(February 22, 2018) Virginia Beach, Va. – Window World of Tidewater is excited to once again participate in the Hampton Roads St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway. The store provided and installed dozens of windows for the home. In April, the home will be given to the winner of a raffle; all proceeds of the raffle will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, which takes the most challenging cases of childhood cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
This is the second year Window World of Tidewater, a franchise of Window World, Inc., has taken part in the Hampton Roads St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. Tickets for the raffle are $100 each, and the drawing will be held on April 29 at 11 a.m. on WTKR News3. At 3,300 square feet, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom dream home is perfect for any family. The house, which is in the Ashby’s Bridge neighborhood of Virginia Beach, has an estimated value of $750,000. Contestants are eligible for several other prize options, including a 2018 Nissan Rouge or a $10,000 shopping spree from Value City Furniture. Those who enter by March 9 will be eligible to win a Norfolk Tides game package. The mail-in ticket deadline for the dream house raffle is April 23.
For its contribution to the house, Window World of Tidewater, which is in Virginia Beach, donated and installed 40 windows, two entry doors and a garage door. The project’s sponsor and builder, Kirbor Homes, received Window World of Tidewater’s help after the groundbreaking in October. Crews from Window World of Tidewater installed the windows and doors in November, and now workers are putting together the finishing touches on the home.
“It’s a beautiful house. The design is really nice, all the products we put in are high-end,” says Window World of Tidewater co-owner Josh Reed. “Whoever wins the house is going to get a beautiful, energy-efficient house.”
The Hampton Roads St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is one of more than 30 such contests taking place around the country. Every ticket helps children and their families receiving support from St. Jude. No family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
“I don’t know anybody who doesn’t have a soft spot for kids, especially kids who, through no fault of their own, have to battle cancer,” says Reed. “St. Jude is the best. Even though they’re in Memphis, they share their research with hospitals around the world. To be able to be a little part of helping that … it’s pretty awesome.”
Window World Cares®, the charitable arm of Window World, was founded in 2008. Since the beginning of their partnership, Window World Cares has contributed more than $8 million to St. Jude. Along with the Hampton Roads St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, Window World of Tidewater is involved in numerous charitable activities in the community. The store is one of the main sponsors of the annual Roast on the River benefitting Daniel’s Grace, a local organization whose mission is to help families coping with cancer.
