In October 2023, Window World proudly unveiled the Window World Dining Room at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Domino’s Village. This incredible space serves as a gathering point for families facing the challenges of pediatric cancer. It’s a space that fosters fellowship, provides nourishment, and offers moments of comfort in a time of uncertainty.
As part of St. Jude’s newest short- and long-term housing facility, the dining room allows families to focus on what matters most—their child’s health—while enjoying healthy meals, free from worry about travel or cost. Whether they’ve traveled from afar or nearby, families can find respite here, knowing their needs are being cared for.
A Legacy of Partnership
Window World’s partnership with St. Jude began in 2008, and since then, over $17 million has been raised to support the hospital’s mission of finding cures and saving children. The Window World Dining Room represents the continuation of this partnership and the fulfillment of a shared goal: to ensure families are supported in every possible way as they navigate their child’s treatment.
Tammy Whitworth’s Dedication
At the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Tammy Whitworth, Window World’s CEO, expressed her pride in the dining room’s purpose:
“Today, we reaffirm our commitment to the vision of St. Jude founder Danny Thomas: that no child should die in the dawn of life. The Window World Dining Room will serve as a place of nourishment and fellowship for the incredible families of St. Jude. We are proud to support this aspect of St. Jude’s mission.” With a ribbon cut and hearts full of gratitude, the Window World team dedicated this space to the strength and courage of St. Jude’s patients and families.
A Unique Touch: The Movie Screen Experience
Adding a special touch to the dining room is a drop-down movie screen, a first for any St. Jude patient housing facility. This feature allows families to enjoy moments of entertainment and relaxation together, reinforcing the dining room’s role as a space for connection and respite.
The Impact of Community
As Dr. Maggie Cupit-Link, a former St. Jude patient and now a clinical hematology/oncology fellow at the hospital, noted, the outcomes for pediatric cancer patients at St. Jude are remarkable. Part of that success is attributed to the holistic care St. Jude offers—care that goes beyond medicine to include spaces like the Window World Dining Room, where families can find strength in one another and in the St. Jude community.
The Window World Dining Room is more than just a place to eat; it’s a symbol of hope and resilience, offering families comfort during some of the hardest moments of their lives.
